Animated Chart Frequently Asked Questions

1. I'm encountering a problem with your software. Once I have ended a chart and I try to publish it in flash format or jpg all I get is a white background. Can you help me please ?

- it has been fixed at the version 2.1.0.3

2. I want the x axis to increment in 50's 0, 50, 100, etc. And the months to show up in the Y-axis.

- it has been realeased at the version 2.1.0.3

3. I would like to create a bubblechart where the labels of the rows and columns are used as the scales.
Setting the major units to 1 doesn't work here.

- The file (123.ach) is an example how to make a bubblechart where the labels of the rows and columns are used as the scales.

4. The program exports a .swf file....but it cannot be imported by Flash 8. Any answers?

- SWF files created with the Animated Chart software can not be importing by Flash, so you should load them dinamically for using in your application.

5. I'm trying to use the "External Data File" path, the path is "c:\graph\Enter_Graph.xml". I triedthese options: C:\ C:\graph C:\graph\ C:\graph\Enter_Graph C:\graph\Enter_Graph.xml C:\graph\Enter_Graph.xml\ Is there a way to give the SWF a parameter of the XML?

- Yes, you can set any path, but the parameter "Accept as Local" should be set the correct value. Also, there is a security policy of FlashPlayer and one of items is all external files should be either in the same folder where the swf file is or in the sub-folders. More details you can find at the adobe.com web-site.

Some questions about Animated Chart Pro edition

6. Can you tell me how to use dynamic data with Animated Charts Pro. I am particularly interested in connecting to SQL.

Answer. You should write a script (for example, in ASP) forming the xml file. Make all needed SQL querries for selecting data and put them to the xml file.

7. I have just purchased and Installed Animated Chart Pro and have a definate problem trying to access live data sources.
The software only seems to allow me the same data sources as the standart edition.

I have double checked to make sure I installed the correct file from the link supplied on the email and the title bar
does say \"Animated Chart Pro\"

Answer. The Flash technology supports loading data from an external file, for example, the xml format, and Animated Chart uses the same method.

You should do the following in the Animated Chart Pro:
1. Create and customize a chart with any data.
2. "Items" toolbar: choose the "Chart" item.
3. "Inspector" toolbar: set a path to the xml file in the "External Data File" field.

3. The Animated Chart Pro allows live data refresh ... In some instances I just want it to load an xml file once and not have it refresh after that. How do I stop it refreshing? Setting the 'REFRESH DATA RATE' to zero does not stop it.

Answer. You should set refresh data rate to "infinity" with a big number (for example, 2 years in secs).
